Shadows In The Fog

Opening Gambits

The problem with this structure, on the surface, is that at the outset every plot is in Setup. After the Group Creation Session, or the first regular session if preferred, the Host needs to discuss this with the players. At least one plot must be shifted to Dramatic Tension, by putting that PC well into motion. Ideally, 2/3 of the plots should be put into Dramatic Tension, such that the next session’s play will determine what goes into Climax first.

The first two or three sessions will thus require a little more thought about structure; once the structure is in motion, it will more or less run itself.

We recommend that any plot that is going to shift to Climax rapidly have an “opening gambit,” in which the player and the Host together construct a way for that PC Plot to shift toward resolution exceptionally rapidly.
